Katarina Sanberg of Sweden has spent many days with her head in a book, from studying them, to teaching from them and lately from publishing her own book. Katarina is a GRSP alumna from the Class of 2011-12. She recently returned from a year at the University of California Berkeley where she was a visiting scholar on a Fulbright scholarship. She and her husband Gustaf live in Stockholm, where she is teaching and working on her doctorate in political science.

While in Georgia, Katarina was sponsored by the Rotary Clubs of Marietta, Marietta Metro, and Vinings Cumberland. She attended Southern Polytechnic State University before it was consolidated with Kennesaw State University. She remains in touch with her host family, Vince and Cindy Clanton, who flew to Sweden to attend her wedding. Rotary District 6900 Governor Steve Ivory and his family visited Katarina and Gustaf on a trip to California this past spring. Katarina attended the GRSP Reunion in Atlanta in 2017 and also hopes to return to Georgia next year.

“Georgia truly holds a special place in my heart,” Katarina said. “I had an amazing time during my GRSP year, and I’m still in touch with several people from my class. I didn’t know a lot about Georgia and what to expect. It was a more valuable experience for me to attend a smaller college because people were very interested in someone from abroad. I joined a sorority. We had an amazing network within GRSP. Not only did we get to engage with people from the US, but you have another network from around the world.”
Katarina’s novel about artistry, power, and exactly how far one is prepared to go to fulfill one’s dream, is expected to be released this fall, https://lbforlag.se/produkt/det-blev-ingenting/.
