Rotary Club of Dublin, Georgia had the honor of hosting the Georgia Historical Society (GHS) on August 8, 2025 to present the Presidential Citation Award to State Representative Matt Hatchett. Dr. W. Todd Groce, President and CEO of the Georgia Historical Society, presented the award. The Presidential Citation, given periodically by the chief executive of GHS, honors individuals and organizations whose words and actions have provided distinguished service to the field and cause of history.
“Matt Hatchett is a great champion of history education and economic development,” said Dr. Groce. “His leadership and vision in the legislature have ensured proper funding for the maintenance and care of the state’s historical markers, which tell the fascinating story of our state’s journey through time and bring tens of thousands of tourists to Georgia. I can’t think of anyone more deserving of this special recognition.”
Matt is one of three people to ever win the award from the Georgia Historical Society.
