The Jekyll Island Rotary Club enjoyed a full and inspiring month of programs, recognitions, and service in August.

The club welcomed a variety of guest speakers who brought valuable insights to members. Adam Sanders, owner of At Your Service Errand Girl, shared how his business—run alongside his wife Jamie and their team—helps residents with almost any task under the motto, “If it’s not illegal, we can probably do it.” Sanders also shared his background in the Coast Guard, law enforcement, and FLETC, and noted that his family operates one of the island’s Dolphin Tours. Later in the month, members heard from entrepreneur Reuven Levitt, who spoke on the growing influence of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in both daily life and the near future. The club also hosted Master Sergeant William Strohsahl from Glynn Academy’s MCJROTC program, who outlined the mission of developing courageous, responsible, and service-minded young adults. Shanna Lee of the Jekyll Island Authority rounded out the month by speaking about her work at the Jekyll Island Greenhouse, where she is cultivating thousands of native plants to be transplanted across the island.

In addition to engaging speakers, the club was active in giving back and recognizing members. Donation checks were presented to the Bennett Foundation, represented by John Waters, and to the Marine Corps Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps, represented by Ernest Gilbert. The club also celebrated milestones in support of The Rotary Foundation. Club President Al Tate was honored as the club’s 32nd Paul Harris Fellow, while long-time member John Thigpen received his own Paul Harris Fellow recognition. These awards highlight the club’s commitment to advancing Rotary’s work locally and globally.

It was a month filled with fellowship, education, and service—an example of Rotary’s motto, Service Above Self, in action on Jekyll Island.
